Heading off down the mountain i stopped at Fainter Falls for a look
Image

I headed bush again and stopped for an early camp on Rodda Creek Track as it looked like a storm was coming through.
found a big open area and only just got the fire going when the wind hit so i quickly doused the fire and jumped in the canopy for some protection from flying branches

Lots of roads closed due to fire damage so had to do a million detours to get where i wanted which didn't ease my worries about not getting fuel for the last few days.

I awoke in the morning still surrounded by mist and after waiting a while that hadn't improved so i decided to head off down the hill.
Image

100 metres down the hill i dropped out below the mist and had a great view up the valley.
Image

I checked out Dogmans Hut at Tom Groggin
Image

I then headed out one of the best drives in the high country, Davies Plain Track, then stopped at Davies plain Hut.

As i was driving past Kings Plain Track i noticed the altitude was pretty high.

I continued on down passing a private hut.

Passed the remains of an old vehicle.
Image

Stopped in to look at one of the newer huts that has been built since the fires.

I made my way back to the bitumen but took a track off to the left which was very narrow and steep which took me down into the valleys and out of the high country passing tourists and camps galore.
I drove on up to the Vic Border passing one of the lakes which looked magic with its dead trees reflected on a dead still day.
Image

I camped on the Murray for the night.
Image

Image

Next Morning i found the Qld border would be closing that day so made a beeline straight through NSW without stopping.

Floods were rising at the campsite I had picked so I kept driving and pulled up at an abandoned fuel stop which had a rest area beside it.

Next morning made a beeline for home to end an eventful trip.
