Leaving Bourke i wanted to head west to the One Ton Post but the Kamilaroi Hwy was closed due to flooding so i decided to head north.
I quickly organised my border pass and headed off turning right just after the old Darling River Bridge.

I got as far as Enngonia when i spotted a "shortcut" through Ledknapper Nature Reserve and Culgoa NP so turned right and dropped the tyre pressures.
Nothing really to see all way across to Culgoa where i found a very neglected Park with even the main road overgrown and down to a couple of wheel tracks in the grass.

I headed down to the Culgoa River Campground but rounding a bend i hit a short muddy patch about 2 metres long and the windscreen was covered in mud forcing me to stop .
Ahead was a long stretch of water and going by the 300mm deep ruts i had just put in the last 2 metre section of water there was no way i was getting through that to something possibly worse as i was getting close to the river roughly a Km away.
I turned around and got a good runup making it through and once again having to stop to clear the mud to see.

I headed back to the main road and continued east through Culgoa NP [nsw] with no problems until i found a chain across the road, apparently this is a border crossing and the other side now becomes Culgoa Floodplains NP [qld]
There was a gate through the barbed wire fence about 50 metres away and i was not about to drive a few hundred kms back so i went through and continued on.
*note that i had not passed any closed signs at all in the whole drive, the sign facing me at the border was on the ground so not sure which way it was supposed to be facing but i picked it up as you wouldnt see the chain at night*

I decided to head up to Redbank Hut Camping ground but when i arrived there was no sign of a campground, just burr filled long grass.

I headed back and continued on finally exiting the park [no signs saying closed ahead or anything].

I crossed a grid heading towards Goodooga but even though i was still a few Kms from the Calgoa River bridge there was a lot of water across the road as far as i could see, i walked a bit to test the road but it was fairly soft so i decided to head north away from the river.
As i walked back i noticed a chain on the ground at the grid so it looks like it was also a border crossing into NSW.

I headed North driving through lots of water then again turned east only having to skirt one muddy section.

Once back on the bitumen i drove down to Thallon to see the painted silos but was shooting into the sun and the foreground had a large stockpile blocking the view.

I headed down to Mungindi to have a look at the One Ton Post before heading back to Thallon for the night.

Not a bad camp spot ... $5.50 for a powered site, pay at the pub. hot shower as well but the you didnt need the hot water as it was quite warm anyway.

At first light i wandered over to get some Silo pics, pity about the stockpile.

As i was camped only a few metres away i got several pics in the changing light as the sun came up.

I headed for home on the bitumen arriving just after lunch ... was hoping for rain to wash the mud off but no such luck.
