Up the road a bit i turned into Babinda and had to wait for a train to cross the main street before continuing on to Babinda Boulders to camp.

saw a hi ace camped in a bay but owner not there … bloke came in large camper and set up at the front of the site but left plenty of room to get past… later on another tool reversed in to the other side and opened up all his slide out sections, electric awning etc and blocked him in completely then they left to go swimming … hi ace had no choice but to stay another night … people are so rude

Sunday 24-7-22:
I headed up into the hills to Behana Gorge but found nothing to see but a water plant as the stuff is another 3 kms up the road beside the pipeline which they have locked... Oh well, swapped the thongs for the boots and away i headed .
Scrambled down to below one set of falls for some pics which was a far better view than Rudge lookout

I drove on to Gordonvale and made camp at Green Patch Campground ... it was chockers but a bit of creative cropping makes it look better.

Monday 25-7-22:
I had decided to stay and watch a movie or two but the evacuation order blared out and a couple of people left quickly, i could not see any reason to worry so made a coffee while a second evacuation siren went off ... I packed and hit the road while the third siren went ... not more than 5 percent moved and the river looked normal so its probably just a way to get people to move on ... pretty stupid idea if it was as no one takes any notice!

I headed in to Trade Tools Cairns and bought a 18V Milwaukee water pump and a hose and fittings from Bunnings so i can fill my water tank from creeks etc.

I drove to the outskirts of town and pulled up to finish watching my movie.
I was just a bit north of South Ellis Beach and spotted an island out off shore … I walked down to the south end to get a better pic of Double Island and found its a nude beach … not the best place to be carrying a big camera and big lens ( even it its a wide angle lens) ... awkward!
I was struggling to get over the rocks out to the point barefoot and one of the nude blokes walking back the other way told me there was a track at the back of the rocks so that made it a bit easier to get out to the perfect spot to get pics of the island .... except there was a bloke wanking and i'm pretty sure he saw me walking out there ... so i had to move a bit further on to keep him out of the pic ... then as i was walking out a nude bloke and a topless women were walking towards the point so i had to go over and warn her about him ... maybe it was him who had to worry and not her ???

Tuesday 26-7-22:
Had a nice dawn for pics then hit the road North to Port Douglas.

Port Douglas … where they cut down the trees and planted new ones so they would all be in straight lines and the same size … where they cut down the rainforest to build hundreds of resorts and shops but left a little bit of rainforest on the steep unstable slopes so they could proudly proclaim “where the rainforest meets the sea” … where they left a thin veneer of palm trees on the beach hiding the buildings behind to make it look like paradise.

I had a bit of a hunt around to find the old Island Point Lighthouse ... it tucked away down a laneway to the left of 7 Wharf St Port Douglas, hidden by the houses to either side. I tried to firstly access it from the walkway below with no luck and had to search from the road for it.
Great view out to sea from the site.
