Thursday 28-7-22:
I woke at sunrise and got ready to light the fire for coffee when a couple of blokes from up at the other camp walked past to go to the falls … before I had got dressed so I accidentally flashed them.

About the only thing I did today was collect some wood and paddled the canoe down to the Falls.
I didn’t take the camera in case I had to abandon the canoe if the current got too strong but I stayed well away and turned around at the first sign of the flow getting quicker.

Had plenty of visitors during the day and a couple of campers who turned up just before dark and set up near me.

Friday 29-7-22:
Just relaxed again and went for a few swims and a walk up to the beach end.
Goannas came round when there was no visitors.
Couldn’t find a reason to leave so stayed put again.

Saturday 30-7-22:
Finally got my arse into gear and dragged the canoe back up and strapped it to the roofrack, had to repair the ratchet strap though so maybe the spirits don’t want me to leave.

Pumped the tyres up to 26 & 28 then unlocked the hubs as it will be a while before I use them again as the rest of the CREB is a graded gravel road.

Had a couple of shallow gravel creek crossing on the way out but the road is graded gravel so no worries. I did notice the original CREB track which heads off to the east a few Kms north of the Roaring Meg turn off is closed so didn’t try that way this time.

After getting back on the bitumen I turned right and headed south to Bloomfield Falls for a look and to post up on face book so people know I’m still OK.

I decided on a detour and drove out the Mt Amos road for a look at Trevethan Falls ... spectacular.
was a nice spot to camp so set up and enjoyed the place to myself overnight.

Sunday 31-7-22:
I woke to the sound of 12 or so motorbikes from a tour group surrounding my camp but they just had a quick look and headed off.
I headed off myself and turned right to see where the Mt Amos road went to but it past a couple of ponds and i had to stop at a 'Private access road from here on' sign.

I then beelined into Cooktown to have a look at the free Cooktown RV Camp beside the Turf Club and scored the best site in the place so stayed put, made myself comfortable and caught up on my website and facebook page.
