I then ended my day at the Normanby Range Lookout just outside Mount Perry.

Thursday 7-7-22:

I woke to a stiff cold breeze and a sky completely filled with low cloud and headed east passing this old shack.

I drove to Gin Gin and filled the fuel tank for the first time since i left home a week ago, then drove east to check out the Mystery Craters.
There is a room that you pass through full of rock specimens like this petrified wood before you step outside to be greeted by T Rex.

I dropped in to see my mate Mark then headed out to Kinkuna to camp.
The track out there was flooded and i had water over the bonnet in one dip but the bottom is firm so i had no problems getting out on to the beach for the run south where i found a beaut camp spot over looking the beach with a shady tree behind me.

For something to do i walked out the southern access track to look at why it was closed by National Parks.

Image

They have cut down a large tree and used a large loader to move the tree to a spot where they could block access... could have simply dug a drain for the puddle at the creek crossing.

Image

And the excuse [ sorry, reason ] it was closed ..... not as deep as the northern access i did yesterday.
Don't think the southern access will reopen any time soon!

I set up my fire and relaxed for the afternoon with a cool breeze coming in around 3 pm which was soon offset by the campfire ... great day.
