The tunnel is very low but only 30 metres or so long; it opens up to spectacular views of the deep crack in the floor and layered cliffs on the ocean side.

I backtracked and took the Mermaid Inlet track which comes out on the Rock Ledge so I checked out the cave and the views.

I drove back to Bosum Beach to process the pics and have a bit of a rest.
The weapons range is closed during the week so cant get out to the lighthouse etc.

I headed back to the Pacific Highway and headed south and thought i'd drop in and have a look at Falls Creek as rain had happened overnight and most of the morning.
Crossing a clay ditch in the carpark the rear wheels spun and moved sideway into a deeper bit, the front wheels had just crossed a tree root and as i tried to move all it did was go down in the soft clay and landed on the chassis and sliders.
I got out and locked the hubs in and looked around for a rock or two, all i found was one rock and it was too big to fit under the Ute.
i tried rocking and turning side to side but all i did was ground it even harder on the chassis ... no movement at all.

I then had to wire up the winch and hooked up to a tree and pulled the old girl out.

only then did i realise i hadn't put it in 4WD ... DOH !!

Since i went to all the trouble of carrying the rock over ... i chucked it in the hole anyway
