Vic High Country 1-1-23

Post by Big Red »

New years day saw me hitting the road again and heading East from Bendigo calling in at Colbinabbin for a look at the painted silos then found a camp on the river bank at Murchison where i did my first good deed for the year towing a BMW out of a boghole ... he had no tow point fitting so i had to hook a chain to his rear suspension arm and gently eased him out with no damage.

Did some shopping at Wangaratta then drove past Pioneer Bridges Camping Reserve and liked the look of it so made a very early camp as it was raining anyway . Beaut spot and had Internet as well.
A tree had fallen on the bridge and damaged the guardrail

What a day … when i left camp Falls Creek was only an hour or so away … landslide closed the road 9 kms south of Mt Beauty so i found a track up the Kiewa Valley about a couple of Kms before the landslide and headed off … all the tracks off to the left that took you back to the main road was closed so i was nearly at Mt Hotham when i hit a locked gate … had to go all the way back to Bright then around and up to Mt Hotham …

It was getting late so I headed up to Blue Rag Trig to spend the night … she’s blowing a gale up here… the Ute is rocking and the temp is low just like the clouds, BOM says a "feels like " -7.8 and 44 Kmh wind … no chance of a drone shot 😄
