Covid 19 had caused a whole heap of problems and I had to apply for a permit to get into Victoria and a permit to get back into Queensland.
The next day they cancelled the Vic permit.
I waited a couple of days and applied again then the next day I made a beeline for the Vic border before they changed their minds again.
I stopped at Millmerran for a look at the water tank art.
The sun set and I drove for a while noticing the water on each side of the road and decided to stop at Hickeys Falls for the night so i could see the falls in the morning with a decent amount of water in them.

At first light I headed up to the falls as the grey sky looked like there would be no sun so I might as well get going again.
I then hit the road again

I made my way out through Bright and up towards Mt Hotham.
The burnt dead trees stand out starkly in the valleys.
long steep hills are the order of the day along the Great Alpine Road
Blowhard Hut
Just before Mt Hotham Village the road passes just beneath Mt Hotham and is the highest point on the road
There is a small rest stop with a cross which marks the highest point of the road [not a body]
I took the short walk up to the Fire Tower at the top of Mt Hotham [1868 m]
The rest stop looked like a good spot to camp for the night.
Camp was about 3 metres below the road
