South Coast Road Trip 14-5-22

Post by Big Red »

Continuing on from the East Coast Road Trip 29-4-22 > viewtopic.php?f=2&t=82

Saturday 14-5-22:

I left Green Cape and headed back to the highway and headed south looking for tracks out towards Cape Howe with no luck and crossed the NSW/VIC border in the forest .............. so to continue...

I couldn't find an open short cut cut to Mallacoota so had to get back on the highway for a while then turned left and headed into Mallacoota before heading out to the WWII museum but it was closed.
Headed out to Geology Point for a look from the "Observation Deck". Not much to see there so i scouted round and spotted a tunnel under the Observation Deck and also another tunnel under the next Point that you cant see from the deck.
Some good stuff to see from the next point as well.

Last stop along this road was Pebbly Beach, just around the headland to the left is a sea cave.

Sunday 15-5-22:

Last night i shouted myself a Pizza and headed to the nearby Mallacoota Boat Ramp to eat it and upload some pics as it had good signal there ... it was raining and pretty bleak so i ended up sleeping there and as the weather had not improved i stayed in bed and watched a couple of movies until about lunch time when the sun came out.

I then had a quick look around Mallacoota then headed off to Point Hicks [ The granite headlands of Point Hicks are famed for being Captain Cooks first landfall on the Australian mainland. ]
Just my luck, The signs out on the highway say the campgrounds are closed but dont mention the road is closed until your most of the way out there and find the gate locked.
