Travelling down Cape York 5-9-22

Monday 5-9-22:

I grabbed some food and hit the road South, things went ok until I caught up to a caravan travelling down the wrong side of the road as the corrugations were less, I was not game to pass him as he dodged and darted all over the road so I followed close behind keeping out of the dust on his left until we reached the Ferry, luckily there was no line up but I had to wait for ages as he manoeuvred his caravan on to the ferry, the ferry man had to use wood blocks and planks to get him on and off so as soon as he was off I rounded him up and had a clear run to the Northern Telegraph track access link.
An easy run down had me camped at Nolans Brook where I settled in to watch the action.

Tuesday 6-9-22:

I woke early and soon had a coffee into me then drove across Nolans Brook without an audience, the jump up on the other side was easier than I expected and MissRed simply walked up.
Logans Crossing was next and being first one through let me see the sandy bottom as the bonnet dipped under a few times on the long deep crossing, the double jump ups on the exit needed a bit of momentum but was easy enough.

Cypress Creek Bridge was too tight a turn going this direction so I had to do a 5 point turn to get lined up, as I crossed to the other side one of the logs pushed through with the weight of my right rear on it, I got across ok and pried the log out as it was sticking up then laid it back in place, the next few groups I passed I warned them about it.

Cannibal Creek has a deep 180 degree bend before a long deep section with a large rock step on one side then a steep jump up, the towbar smashed down on it as the front climbed but it too was completed with no problems.

Mistake Creek was the one I though I’d have the hardest time getting up as on the way North I had slid down the high bank into the water below.
This time as I got to the water I saw a well used track straight ahead but it turned out to be a dead end used my those towing to get around the sharp bend, I turned and had a pretty straight run at the bank and bumped her up with enough momentum to clear the super deep wombat holes above the steep bank as well.

Sam creek was an easy walk through the deep section and up the steep edge of the hole before lining up for the soft wet sand bank with only a little stab on the throttle to clear it.
It was still early but I camped up and explored the waterfalls and tracks.

I turned off into the Southern Telegraph Track and tackled the crossing at Sailor Creek which bypasses the Bridge ruins.
