MissRed's rear H233 diff was extremely noisy and the diff housing had cracked again so i picked up a complete H260 wagon rear diff along with the tailshaft. it had been fitted to a coil sprung Ute so not sure if any mods had already been done but it should fit straight in to my coil sprung Ute.

cleaned up and chucked on a lick of paint.

Tailshafts are different lengths so got one to suit the H260.

Had a bit of trouble jacking it up as the front lifted instead.

chucked some tyres under to let it pivot further back to raise the rear.

Finally got the diff out

Patrols are known for ripping the rear spring towers off the chassis, i had fitted a brace across the top to stop them lifting and ripping but found another problem i hadn't heard of before.

The springs have a sharp edge and the point pressure had cracked the towers on the inside and was starting to punch through.
Image

passenger side not too bad, just starting.
Image

drivers side pretty bad and cracked right through to the outside.

Going to fit a set of the Boss Spring Tower Braces to strengthen the inside... not what they were designed for but should do the job.

Due to running out of gas on the mig i couldn't weld the inside of the towers and will just have to weld the outside later on.

Fitted the passenger brace with a fair bit of drama bending the tower back into shape so the brace would fit.
Image

Fitted the drivers side after a fair bit of repairing, a lot of bending and a shitload of cussing.
this side needs a heap of welding but all the fuel and brake lines go over the top so its going to be hard to weld.
fitted the brace anyway.

Had to leave out the airbags until after its welded.
