Sunday 3-7-22:
I headed down to the sports centre and had a nice hot shower before hitting the road south.

I made my way out to Auburn River National Park and had a look at the gorge from the lookout but you can't see much from there.

I set up camp and attached an awning then hoisted a tarp over the fire so our fire can stay dry for the next few days then went for a walk and found a new track that is not on the park map i have drawn it in red so headed out to the top of the gorge for a look.
Brett and Jeff arrived just before i got back so we lit the fire and chatted the evening away.

The terrain was rocky and very slippery in the drizzle.

Tuesday 5-7-22:

Had a beaut roast meal last night and the rain seems to have almost stopped today so we walked up to the Gorge Head Lookout

Back down at the campground lookout we tried to spot Hairyman Cave on the other side without much luck, water too high to go across and look for it.

Image

A nice fire under the tarp was a great way to end the day.

Wednesday 6-7-22:

We all had a leisurely pack up and we each left when our gear was dry, i had a bit longer to wait but finally everything was dry by lunch time.

I headed into Mundubbera, had a shower at the sports ground then did a bit of shopping and grabbed a curry pie as they only had two pies left at the bakery.

I headed up to Jaycee park to eat my lunch then drove east to McConnell Lookout on Mount Gayndah.

Once at Mount Perry i checked out the ruins of the old copper smelter ... not much left but pavers made from copper slag.
