I headed north west out of town stopping at Fletchers Creek for a look ... hundreds of caravans here so i drove out to Darymple NP for a look at the monument, grave and checked out some ruins that were not on the map.
I headed out to the Fitzroy Range development road but then about 50 Kms in I turned north on a back road with some interesting signs and dodgy bridges.
I then headed to Paluma Dam but there was no one there and it looked like the whole place had been spruced up for the upcoming Paluma Push [a cycling event]
should have had one of these when i fell down the rack wall In Victoria ... lol
It was getting late and with no service i couldn't book a site or even find out if any sites were open at the moment but the sign said if you had trouble booking to set up at camp 22 or 8 and the ranger would sort it out so i drove over to 22 and camped the night.
I woke early and decided that since i was up and wasn't sure if i would get trapped here by the cyclist event, not to mention the traffic coming the other way on the narrow winding dirt road and the mountain road up to the turn off, that i would head down to the coast and maybe get a sunrise pic.
I found a sign at Paluma saying the road would be closed from 8am saturday so i was a day early anyway.
I headed to the coast then explored until i found a beach access track off to the left down Barrilgie Road Mutarnee ... lots of old huts and plenty of spots on the beach at the northern end of the track.
Some wanker decided to park/camp across the access track on to the beach so after taking some pics i drove further north and found a beaut spot right on the water ... magic!
