I headed back to the protected rainforest and made camp at Camp 1 ...
Now you know where the flies go on dark ... mostly under the leaves but occasionally on top like these ones.

I drove back out the Usher Point Track and headed South to the Jardine stopping at the old vehicle crossing for a look before heading out to the old telegraph line crossing and hut to camp.

someone had even left some wood for me :)

I removed the broken bits of my mirror mount and broke it even further ... so drilled out the housing and the mount and ran a longer larger bolt right through the lot, fitted a washer and nut inside the housing and she's as good as new !!

I drove up on to the little headland to the south of Seisa beach and camped up to do some uploading with a nice 4 bars of 4G [even though data flow up here on Cape York can be limited at peak times even with great signal]

Image

A bushfire fuelled by strong winds was heading along the access track directly towards my hill but luckily a narrow rainforest belt stopped it reaching the hill

My little hilltop hideaway with a rainbow pointing directly at MissRed

Monday 29-8-22:
I watched the Thursday island Ferry come in and dock beside a cargo ship at the Seisa Wharf then spotted Bruce out cruising and checking me out .

Bruce disappeared after the Ferry left so i drove down to the wharf for a sticky beak. Bruce pulled up a bit of beach over on Red Island and relaxed.

I headed South to a bit of beach with plenty of 4G to myself and relaxed for the day ... did venture for a quick dip [OK the water had barely enough time to wet me] keeping an eye out for Bruce.
