The Ute had been having a little surge issue since Alice [we refuelled while a tanker was filling their tanks] but it got so bad I could only just keep 100 Kmh until Doon Doon where we refuelled, it seemed better after sitting for half an hour but slowly got worse again so by the time we got to the Kunnanurra turn off we decided to camp and I changed the fuel filter.
The glass bowl showed very little crap in it but once I pulled the filter off a whole heap of fine red dirt came out of the filter material so hopefully that should fix it.

We had a nice sunset over the Boab Tree beside camp before cooking dinner, I forgot all about it and thoroughly burnt my sausages … oh well, ate em anyway!

Sunday 29th July
This morning we hit the Gibb River Road which was bitumen to El Questro Station so just after we hit the dirt we let the tyres down [mine were set to 26 and 28]
The Ute was going good with the new fuel filter in it.
Not long after we stopped at a car and camper breakdown but he had only destroyed a left rear tyre and had a spare [road pressures by the look of them]
We soon crossed the Pentecost River then a bit after that stopped for another bloke towing a caravan who had punctured a left rear and was plugging it [road pressures by the look of them]

We were on a bit of a mission so we didn’t stop for any attractions apart from a lunch stop at a nice little spot at the Durack River crossing.

The road was pretty good mostly so we kept 80 to 100 all the way to Mt Barnett Station where we refuelled before turning round and heading back about 30 Kms to Barnett River Gorge where we are camping the night.

We walked up to the end of the Gorge for a swim then back to the bottom end of the Gorge and had another swim then headed back to the cars and moved to a camping spot and got the fire going for dinner.
Jeff cracked his eggs for dinner and found they were pre scrambled inside. Saved a bit of work… lol

I spotted a couple of crocs sunning themselves.

Monday 30th July
Jeff had the fire going before I dragged my lazy arse out of my nice comfortable Swag so we both had some breakfast before packing up and heading to Mt Elizabeth Station to pay our $150.00 to access the Munja Track out to Walcott Inlet.

We unlocked the Station Gate and had a pretty easy run at first.

We stopped at Cave Rock for a look

A bit later we dropped off the Magpie Jump Up which looks to be the real start of the Munja Track … looks like it will be fun to get back up.

Just after the Turkey Creek camp we checked out some more Rock Art at a nice little camp spot so we stayed to have lunch and let some other people get a long way ahead of us.

The road got very rough and rocky in places and we passed a burnt quad along with numerous creek crossings, one of which had an old burnt out G60 beside it.

Jeff talked me into stopping at Bachsten Creek Bush Camp so we pulled in and walked down a few hundred metres for a swim … bracing it was!

I did a walk to the Honeycomb Cave and was amazed at the rock formations and numerous caves along the top of the Plateau, The Honeycomb cave its self was the icing on the cake, magnificent!

A nice hot shower and dinner cooked on the fire was a good way to end the day.
